How
to achieve the look of the roaring 1920’s
With the launch of the new ghd limited
edition Scarlet Styler which has been inspired by the dramatic looks of the
1920s and the soon to be released film, The Great Gatsby, the 1920s are having
a fashion moment.
If there is one look that is synonymous
with the twenties it is the Flapper look. The Flapper look was revolutionary in
its day. The look was defined by their short skirts, at least short compared to
what had gone before, their bobbed hair styles and their love of jazz. However,
it is a look that is easy to achieve today.
In the recent advert for ghd, which you can
see at ghd's official website, Katy
Perry showed off her inner flapper when she dressed as Snow White and the Evil
Queen from the fairytale for a super-cool photo shoot.
What's more it is really easy to achieve
the look. When it comes to the hair it’s all about a sleek bob, which is styled
to perfection using your ghd hair straighteners, or with finger waves which
again can be styled using your new Scarlet Styler.
But of course fab hair needs suitable
sophisticated makeup, and for the flapper look it is all
about red lipstick, kohl and porcelain skin. In the 1920s flappers regularly
used kohl as eye makeup to create a dramatic, dark look.
Use a darkish red lipstick – ideal for this
dark season – to create a strong ‘cupid’s bow’ shape in the centre of your
lips, emphasising their shape and creating a cute pout for the ultimate 120s
look. Use a light foundation for perfect porcelain skin and avoid blusher for a
clear, bright look.
What's more the look is perfect for a night
out, and by going for a sparkly flapper dress, sexy 20s hair and flapper makeup
you will look super hot for your fancy dinner or cocktail party. What kind of 20's style do you love?
Such a nice post. :)
