More photo shoots...

Cowgirl Style; these pages are from Flare Canada for July 10.
I was supposed to go to a Wild Wild West themed night last weekend and got dressed up to out (it didn't end up working out - long story) but I quite like this theme as a whole (OK, I admit, I just think I make a cute cowgirl :) )
Here are my favourites>>

I love the way the background blend over the images. The model Amanda Laine by the way, looks great, the colours have obviously been altered but the background images and features have been blended over her figure which makes this such a cool shoot. This last one, I'm sure we all recognise Miu Miu, such a great top.

I love the strappy shoes that are knee high as well, some of them i dont know where I would wear them, and admittedly, its hard to show off so much leg in Winter (what with all the pant wearing, theyre not exactly silky smooth!) There are knee high leather boots that Ive seen by Gucci which are also amazing! Theyre strappy as well, Abbey Lee Kershaw modelled them a while back in a magazine I was readying and they look great!  More cut out boots then strappy like the photos above, but awesome all the same!

Ive also taken to fringing a bit more, its one of those things that has to be done right though! It came out about 4 or so months ago everywhere for a while, and then when I went to the shops the other day, there was nothing! But you can just go sticking fringing everywhere and anywhere. Also it has to be something sensible so you wear it a few times..maybe some boots, or a jacket? It depends. Anyway, post later :)

cant wait to go shopping in Bali!!!

McQueen's ashes scattered on Scottish isle

See below for the news article on the West Australian website;

The ashes of British fashion designer Alexander McQueen have been scattered on the Isle of Skye off Scotland's west coast, his family says.
McQueen, who rose from a modest background to become one of the world's most flamboyant and high-profile designers, committed suicide in February on the day before his mother's funeral.
A family statement released on Monday said: "On the 29th May 2010, Lee Alexander McQueen was laid to rest on the Isle of Skye."
"Lee cherished the times that he was able to spend on the Isle of Skye - he enjoyed the beauty, peace and tranquillity," they said.
"It was Lee's final request that his ashes should be buried at Kilmuir."
The body of the 40-year-old was found in a wardrobe in his central London flat.
An inquest into his death concluded in April that he had taken cocaine, sleeping pills and tranquilisers before he died.
McQueen was one of fashion's superstars and designed for Givenchy before being creative director of his own label.
His death cast a cloud over New York's and London's Fashion Week, which was just about to start when he died.

One trend I wont be buying into...

In the last few magazines I have picked up (and believe me when I say I get every magazine monthly!) I have seen a few features on a trend that is known as mixed prints.

This is something for me that  just doesn’t seem to work.

Sure there are your classic other staple rules such as don’t wear black with brown or black with navy which I break on a weekly basis and hey, aren’t rules meant to be broken anyway?

However this trend just simply doesn’t look put together. Of course, there’s always an exception to ever rule, I have seen a few looks I like such as this one>>

but in saying that I really do mean a few.

As much as some people can get it horrible wrong, print size and colour tone-wise, this look just doesn’t seem pulled together, it looks sloppy, and is a trend that I cant see translating very well from the runway. Think realistically, if you saw someone wearing two very bold patterns with each other, would your first thought be, ‘oh well that’s quite fashionable isn’t it?’ or ‘doesn’t she look stylish!’.

As a general rule of thumb, I always team a pattern (whether it be big or small) with neutral colours or block colours in the same colour palettes. This creates a much more refined look and has a lot more sophistication and plays up the print, rather than drowning your figure in shapes and colours, mismatched all over the place. This rings especially thru for a pattern like animal print, which has the potential to look disastrously trashy if worn the wrong way.

Anyhoo, enough from me, what do you guys think about this trend?

DirtyRich!

A new store has just opened and I highly recommend you check it out. Don’t worry, you don’t have to go anywhere or get changed out of your hoodie and ugg boots as you can just shop online. The online store, aptly named dirtyrich.com.au is up and running with plenty of cool US brands to check out. Most of this stuff is pretty hard to find in Australia but now thanks to Sarah Jane Owen, we can get our grubby mitts on Joyrich, Married to the Mob, Dimepiece labels and more.

Check out some of their sweet items below, some of this stuff is quality indeed! I'm loving the skirts with zipper detail and their hoodies.  See their intro press release (above) as well.

Red hair

In case you haven't noticed in photos of me, I have red hair. Quite red, although my hair Is naturally black and I have some black underneath. I have to say I LOVE red hair..there are so many types of reds. I love the fiery-ness of it and the boldness.

The main thing is with red though is that is it just as hard to maintain as blonde or blonde highlights, it fades very quickly and also has the tendency to go brassy. Although you can have very orange-red hair, this is also quote hard to keep looking one solid colour and I find I have to re-dye it quite often. That being said, it isn’t an unnatural colour, not like pink or something like that and it looks great. Go the change! Its a good winter colour as well for me because I'm so bored of black. I think I will keep red hair for sometime.

In saying that, I came across this shoot for Ban Do hair pieces and the model is a great redhead. Check it out below;

Nails of the week

So I used the Sally Hansen nail art pens I bought the other day - the tip works really well, they come off quite easily though, although perhaps I didnt leave it long enough to dry, as I put the top coat on, some of the lines I drew tended to brush off, almost dissolve. All in all, this is a good product, not hard to use and then tip is perfect, you can use it just like you would use any other pen.
Pics below of my nail, apologies for the photo quality and some of it is a bit chipped!
