Back!

Hey everyone! Hope you missed me, I'm back from holidays and right back into it. I have to go read a few blogs and get in touch with what has been happening in the world of fashion in the last couple of weeks. Bali was amazing, thanks for asking! Haha, once I get all my pictures loaded on the computer I'll be sure to post some (If you are interested) 


Its so interesting to have been to Bali and observe such a different culture. Being a third world country its very eye-opening to see the way they love and the luxurys that we take for granted. The fashion industry in non-existent because they have no need for it - it really is a luxury in the sense that their lifestyle is based on necessities. It makes me very grateful to be in Australia and have the education and access to fashion that we do. They dont even sell jackets and hoodies and trench coats and boots or even heels in most places for that matter because their weather is so hot and humid. We have online shopping - which is really something that revolutionised shopping as we knew it, clothes that they couldnt ever dream of affording. 


One of the people we spoke to worked 12hour days, nearly every day and earnt the equivalent of $100 a MONTH. Think about that next time you complain about your paycheck! Even the people of the dole earn more than that! Of course, their living costs are a lot less as well, but it makes you think. I was going into shops and spending about 500,000rp in one go - which is about $60, nearly a months work of pay. They must think we are all millionares (which by the way, when your money is in rupiah, you are!) Its sort of like spending $3000 on a dress or buying any top designer wear, which I still find hard to wrap my head around (mainly, because I dont earn enough to have a clothes budget that high!)


Anyway, enough with the cultural comparisons, I have nothing bad to say about Bali other than I have an awesome tan that I cant show off in this miserable weather! Stop with the storms and the hail already and start with the sunshine!!
