Last night the Western Australian Mercedez Benx Fashion Awards were held.
(Almost) wrapping up Perth Fashion Festival.
Western Australia - Here are your winners;
Most Outstanding WA Collection for 2010 - - Ae'lkemi
They are more than deserving of this
win, making a breakthrough on the national market, featuring at Australian Fashion
week and really making a name for themselves. Well done guys.
I absolutely ADORE this big corset
belt and have been searching for like it for about a year! I kid you not.
Designer for Tomorrow – Of Cabbages and Kings
Up and coming designer. They showcased
at STYLEAID 2009 and 2010, interned for Alexander McQueen, showed at the pop-up
shop Popsicle, was first snatched up by Dilettante and now is showing at their
second Perth Fashion festival. Very well deserved win.
Fine Details – Alistair Yiap
Again, more than deserving, his
collection is BREATHTAKING! A man who has created the most wonderful looking
jewellery, featured in so many articles of late and has some fantastic pieces.
Have a look at Beyond Garment at Freo Maritime Museum to see his work up until November
28th.
(And yes, that is Sarah Pauley again)
Another nominee for this award was
Pinchandspoon who I also think could have happily walked away with this award
to no protests from the crowd. I have seen (up close and personal) their
collection at a High Tea at Palais 85, (I think it was a Fashion Friday) and
let me tell you, the beauty in the neck pieces and the exquisite detailing is
impressive.
Best Dressed Boutique – Dilettante
Part of the requirements for this
award is the need “to be actively
supporting and nurturing local WA creative talent including designers,
local artists, photographers or other creative individuals”

Fantastic, as stated before with Of Cabbages and Kings, you can see they are
doing their bit on helping the WA fashion industry. Very impressive.
The Creative Edge – Teagan Sewell
Is a stylist who took out the award
that can go to anyone from writers,
photographers, stylists, hair and make-up artists. Simply google this girls name and you will see how she is assisting the WA fashion industry.

Also nominated for this was Emma
Bergmeier, someone who again, is probably equally deserving of the award. Both
girls very closely involved with the Perth Fashion Festival.
Runway Model of the Year - Sarah Pauley, Vivien's
Weve all seen this (ENOURMOUSLY) tall
model’s big doe eyes on the catwalk, radiant smile in the PFF ads and stunning red*
hair! She’s also the Of Cabbages and Kings model if youve seen their website
(Yes guys, Perth is small, its like
one big family here)
*Ok so sometimes its orange-y,
sometimes not. Either way, shes stunning. And did I mention TALL!! I think I come
up to her bellybutton. Also, I dont think I need to post many pictures of her, shes already featured in this post!)
Photographic Model of the Year - Fabienne
Vanderhaeghen, Chadwick.
This name is a hard one to say, and a
hard one to remember. The face however, is not.
Hot New Talent (Model) – Dempsey Stewart,
Vivien's
Congratulations to all the winners!!
Very beautiful all of it!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous
ReplyDeletebtw do you know if the Of cabbages and kings shoot is based on a book called the handmaids tale?
Im reading it atm and thought these outfits look sort of similar!
