Miss Brown brings its vintage flair to 140
Celebrated specialists of vintage and remodified clothing - Miss Brown Vintage – will be bringing its
diverse and contemporary range to 140’s fashionable retail precinct with the launch of its much
anticipated pop-up store.
Combining true vintage pieces with remodified clothing and original one-offs made from recycled
vintage fabrics – the collection is sourced from all around the world and features stand-out pieces
from the 50’s – 90’s.
The store will be open to the public from 15 March 2012 and will carry a range of dresses,
swimwear, accessories, bags, shoes and hats. For men, a hand-picked selection of chambray denim
shirts will feature, with a range of vintage authentic Western shirts in a variety of colours.
Commenting on the move to 140, Miss Brown Vintage Creator, Madeleine Thomson said it was “an
excellent opportunity to showcase our contemporary vintage to a city-based market.”
“We are excited to be joining the amazing collection of artists showcasing their wares at 140 and are
looking forward to being part of a creative environment that attracts a broad and varied audience.
Our collection will hopefully inspire and delight our new city audience, offering something fresh and
unique that’s not been seen at 140 before.”
Pieces to look out for include the sought-after remodified vintage day dresses that have become a
Miss Brown Vintage trademark. Essentially transeasonal, each and every dress has been lovingly restored to create a contemporary look for women of all ages to enjoy.
The studio will mark the latest installation of the 140 Pop-up Project, an initiative developed by 140 to offer creatives a unique platform to showcase their talents and wares to a wide audience, free of expensive overhead costs.The Miss Brown Vintage pop-up store will be located at 140, level one, opposite The Aviary.

The inspiration of the Miss Brown Vintage creation is cultivated by Madeleine Thomson who is extremely passionate about bringing vintage fashions back to life in a contemporary style. Madeleine’s creativity, dedication and artful eye on how to capture great vintage pieces allowed her to quickly evolve and she opened her first shop in Bondi Beach in 1994. The success of the first
store sparked a further two stores in Sydney’s Surry Hills where her own designs of clothing made from vintage remnant fabrics gained a large following.

With plenty of catergorys to search by and an extensive lookbook collection too - this site makes it easy to view whats hot right now,.

OR you can jump right in and shop the latest trends - SS12 & all of Summers hottest looks ready for you to buy from. 

I personally love how image-heavy this site is, I love clear and descriptive images that show you how to wear it, pairing garments with complimentary accessories etc

Another thing I love is being able to shop your size - it's such a pain browsing through all these items (and falling in love with them!) and then finding out that they have sold out in your size!

They still have a tiny way to go in terms of making this site more internationally friendly (free shipping/returns as many other sites offer) but this is still a great place to visit for that heavy duty wardrobe update!

A Street Full of Talent on 25 March

On Sunday 25 March Unwrapped: the marketplace will take over Angelo Street, South Perth, with 60 stylish stalls filled to the brim with the very best fashion, accessories, original art, jewellery, photography and home wares WA has to offer. Also on offer this year is Unwrapped Gourmet, with more cupcakes than you can eat in a sitting!

The market will run from 12-6pm as part of the inaugural Angelo Street Marketplace presented by the City of South Perth.

Over the past 6 years, Unwrapped has cultivated many success stories... in 2012, garments from recent graduate Jess Zainudin feature in the Unwrapped campaign. Graduating in December 2011 from Bentley Tafe, Jess completed an Advanced Diploma in Applied Fashion Design and Technology. She now works from her home studio, crafting a name for her self-titled label JessZainudin.

Heavily inspired by Andy Warhol, her designs are bright, fun and frivolous. "My clothes are very bright with quirky prints," says Jess. "All my fabrics are dyed by hand and I love to use natural fibres like hemp and calico".

A number of other designers are launching new labels at Unwrapped 2012, including Jeromy Lim, with his androgynous range of sculptured separates; and Nicola Potter launching Potter Gold with a classy range of strong but feminine cuts.

"Potter Gold is directed towards women whom wish to look feminine, glamorous and beautiful in their own skin. The designs are inspired by the richness and glamour of burlesque costumes and the lifestyle of a Perth girl. Looking glamorous and being comfortable is complete," says Nicola.

With live music, fashion parades, gourmet cupcakes and an array of fabulous lunch spots, there is plenty on offer at Unwrapped to fill a relaxing Sunday afternoon.
