More fashion stuff in Perth

Thats right, you heard me, now stop saying we have no fashion industry!

More fashion events in Perth! Yes, MORE!

Tonight is also the much anticipated ELLERY sample sale! She is selling her S/S/ 10/11 collection at One40William.

Sorry this is not open to the general public BUT – will be from tomorrow!

Kym Ellery, the name behind the brand is of course, a Perth girl, so get excited and support some local labels doing great things.

She has been seen in Vogue, Russh, Harpers Bazaar, Grazia, Cleo, Yen, Oyster and more.

Guests tonight will enjoy wines & canapés and get a preview of her amazing designs.

Limited stock is available, so make sure you get down on Friday, Saturday and Sunday this weekend!

Trading hours:

Friday 17th of December: 11am - 9pm
Saturday 18th of December: 11am - 6pm
Sunday 19th of December: 12pm - 6pm

If you can’t make it though, dint worry! Kym will be back in Feb next year for an Autumn / Winter show! And when you think about it, thats really not very far away as we are only 15 days away from 2011.

Christmas Shoots, December Magazines

I have to share with you an amazing picture from a shoot I styled recently – This was for Contraband Magazine.

This awesome centrefold was done with some torn fabric, some thick Christmas ribbon and some Styrofoam.

This is a great creative piece, made from leftover packaging, some spare fabric and ribbon – the cost was probably less than $20.

Creativity is such a big part of what I do, you have to be able to make outfits, looks and images from almost nothing, and be able to work with what’s on hand as well. Plenty of times, I have just looked around the studio for props and clothing ideas and improvised on the spot!

Cite Store - Great Perth Boutiques

One of the great boutiques who lent me clothing for the Calendar photo shoot on the weekend was Cite.

They are a great store – with a store in One40William – the new complex above the underground train station.

They have a great range of clothes (girls & Guys) and heaps of really cool stuff. I saw lots of people shopping there for Sterosonic which was yesterday – some good festival gear as well as dresses, jumpsuits, crop tops, cheeky shorts, maxi dresses and more.

They are currently running a competition as well – you can go to their store in Karrinyup, Carousel, Perth CBD or Whitfords.

So get down and enter the comp!

Clubwear fashion photoshoot + Moodboards for your viewing pleasure

Tomorrow is the Paramount, 92.9 and Luo Qi Promotion calendar shoot I'm styling. I have some lovely boutiques involved and ill be sure to do a post about them and show you some of the great clothes they have lent!

Wasteland shouted the beer and cocktails at Wasted Days & Wasted Nights,with two giant fashion parades showcasing Wasteland andSubway DC collections, set in the laneways behind the store. 


This invite only event was at Wolfe Lane carpark on Saturday night.

Photo Shoot - Moodboards

I worked on a shoot yesterday for the 4 seasons, mainly beauty shots, it incorporated prop styling rather than clothing. I just thought I would share the mood boards with you as I think they’re really pretty!

These are conceptual photos – so everyone working is on the same page about the ideas behind the shoot. This gives everyone an idea of what they will look like, what we are wanting to achieve and the theme. Great inspiration – there are some very talented people out there!

Pardon My French - Perth designers

The other day I attended a showing of Pardon My French’s latest collection as well as her older collection on sale. There are some bargains so email her at pardonmyfrenchwench@hotmail.com if you are interested in anything that is for sale!

Freya Brice is the designer, and I got her to answer a few questions.

The idea behind my current collection.... is nature. I am always inspired by nature.

Growing up around the beach, country, and easygoing lifestyle I design easy to wear day to night garments.

Beautiful print patterns of leaves, trees are included in this range, reflecting Autumn to Winter.

My favourite piece is.... a tie between the Dream playsuit, and Tick Tock pants. 

Although I do love every piece of this range for 2011!

The best thing about being a designer.... is inspiration and expression.

 I am free to express the things I love through designing pieces I love. 

The next thing for Pardon My French is.... a very exciting Spring Summer range! 

I will be broadening my designs for summer across to bathers and jewellery. 

Pardon My French will be mainly producing ranges for Spring and Summer, not Autumn and Winter.

In 5 years I see myself.... hopefully living off the thing I love doing, designing. 

My label is currently stocked at.... Shop 28, WA. Also Ink and Anchor Tattoo Artspace, New Plymoth NZ. 

My Autumn Winter 2011 range will also be available at Ink and Anchor Tattoo Artspace in NZ as well as online store Eskay affairs (www.eskayaffairs.com).

 Also still in talks with a few other local stores.

There will be a runway show featuring some of Perth's most exciting boutiques such as Savannah Clothing, Highs & Lows, Parata Clothing, Winifred and Bance & Scarlet Fashion, plus beautiful shoes by Shoe Show!

Fashion fighting Breast Cancer

October is the month for Breast Cancer Awareness, and the fashion world definitely steps it up in terms of supporting raising awareness and raising money for charity.

Sydney jeweller Stefano Canturi is also designer a rare pink diamond necklace, for the most iconic pink girl ever - Barbie.

She is set to be the worlds most expensive Barbie with 100% of her profits going to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation.

Also, local model and fashion lover Emily Bathgate is putting on a great event that I suggest you all get down to!

Also raising awareness for Breast Cancer, show your support for Perth, the fashion industry and breast cancer awareness.
