Feathers & Fur

I am really digging feathers and fur right now (faux of course). I know this is silly, as we are in hot weather – today is 33’C people!

BUT, I would love to have some more fur collars or feathered stuff. By stuff I mean tops and maybe a dress or two. Feathers are so elegant, and can really add an extra touch to an outfit, and glam up some evening wear.

I'm loving these photos right now as well;

It would be cool to have a nice fur collar, I have an old vintage one, its in a shade of blue / dark green - hard to describe, but also its a little too wide for my frame and sits a bit funny. I really like feathers, I have an awesome pair of very long chain & feather earring. Maybe some more along those lines.


Feathers can be very over the top though, beware you don't go out looking like a bird!

What a BAD idea for me to start up a profile on boutiques.com to check it out. 

If you don’t know what this site is – its powered by Google and brings boutiques, stylists, designers, celebrities and fashion bloggers all in one place – you enter your sizes, your style, colours you do and don’t like, styles you do and don’t wear and voila. Your own ‘Shop front’.

It browses and find everything on one page for you, then when you want to buy it – it takes you directly to the website. Genius.

Look at all these amazing shoes! And this is only what I’ve found so far, it felt like the page just kept going and going, and I could scroll down forever *drools*

P.S. this is only a UK site - it doesn't cater for all yet - and is also only womenswear, but I would say it will continue to expand in time! Keep an eye out!

Cite Store - Great Perth Boutiques

One of the great boutiques who lent me clothing for the Calendar photo shoot on the weekend was Cite.

They are a great store – with a store in One40William – the new complex above the underground train station.

They have a great range of clothes (girls & Guys) and heaps of really cool stuff. I saw lots of people shopping there for Sterosonic which was yesterday – some good festival gear as well as dresses, jumpsuits, crop tops, cheeky shorts, maxi dresses and more.

They are currently running a competition as well – you can go to their store in Karrinyup, Carousel, Perth CBD or Whitfords.

Tomorrow is the Paramount, 92.9 and Luo Qi Promotion calendar shoot I'm styling. I have some lovely boutiques involved and ill be sure to do a post about them and show you some of the great clothes they have lent!

If you are into fashion you should know these websites -  I recommend you go check them out – their prices aren’t crazy but just remember – they are not Aus dollars! So make sure you do a conversion before you go nuts!

These are sort of a Christmas present to myself...I actually wasn’t going to buy the first one but it TRICKED ME! I'm not even kidding, the page said, “click to continue and confirm payment on next page”...so I click ‘Continue’ (Not ‘pay now’ or ‘buy now’ or ‘confirm payment’) and it comes up saying

I was a little confused...and a little peeved. But then, hey who am I kidding, I'm sure I would have bought it.

I have been looking for a big corset belt for ages, think Ae’lkemi – 

you may have seen it rocked at Perth Fashion Festival this year. If you check out that post, you may have also noticed I mention how much I’ve been searching for a belt like that!

I just found a great site  - its called www.stylecheckup.com

Its really fun BECAUSE people upload their outfit options and leave it up to the public to vote on it. Maybe its the stylist in me, but I love being like, yes this looks good, no this doesn’t, although the downside is that you cant leave that kind of feedback – you can only vote in a poll-style.

Each images can b enlarged to view the different options and on the left is a brief description of the occasion – job interview, weddings, girls night, catch up with a friend, which pair of shoes, which way of wearing a scarf.

Not only is it cool to see different peoples styles and combinations they put together for certain occasions, it’s cool to think that they will wear it because you said so!

Am I getting carried away? I think this site is a pretty cool idea – and it’s not full of random pictures – lots of them are really well done, probably by regular users / members.

A pretty nice site – and if you want style advice, sign up and upload your pictures to get some feedback on which looks best on you!

Wasteland shouted the beer and cocktails at Wasted Days & Wasted Nights,with two giant fashion parades showcasing Wasteland andSubway DC collections, set in the laneways behind the store. 


This invite only event was at Wolfe Lane carpark on Saturday night.

Calling all up-and-coming stylists!

Flaunt Your Style is a Styling Competition hosted by Indulge Clothing on Beaufort Street.

The winner will score a range of fabulous prizes
including a chance to work with SHEILA MAGAZINE, gift vouchers, a
goodie bag, an oppurtunity to work at one of Indulge Clothing's ad
photoshoot, a window display at Indulge Clothing with their name, a
feature story and pictures on Indulge website and the winning look
will be featured and sold on Indulge's online shop. 

All the profits
from this competition will go to the "Butterfly Foundation" which is
dedicated to the victims of body image issues.

Blogs Rule :P

Right this minute magazine people are deeply traumatized. They know and they know with a kind of chilling horror that their medium is destined to go digital. 

Paper will persist of course. Paper will probably persist as a luxury format, a kind of market sub-species that you stock next to scented candles and potted orchids in nice homes as a charming throwback to "antiquity". But publishing is going to be thoroughly digitalized. 

Half of that unwilling process has been effected by the internet and the other half courtesy of the I-Pad. The book publisher's know it but the fashion publishers...In dinner after dinner I found a myriad of responses to the great challenge, these days of keeping an audience, the audience the publishing world had always taken for granted.

Another boutique is opening in the awesome One40William complex - Shero Fashion.

Please go visit it - its vastly improves our very boring CBD, heaps of new stores have opened there of late. you may remember the Eighth Sin Opening. This complex is jam packed of cool new retail stores, lots of awesome boutiques.

More Alexander McQueen

The Costume Institute of The Metropolitan Museum of Art in LA will honour the memory and vision of designer Alexander McQueen through a retrospective exhibit next year.

This is going to be a 100 piece exhibit from post grad to the collection that was presented posthumously.

"Alexander McQueen was best known for his astonishing and extravagant runway presentations, which were given dramatic scenarios and narrative structures that suggested avant-garde installation and performance art," curator Andrew Bolton said.
