Miss Universe - National Costume

This is Jesinta Campbell’s Miss Universe National Costume!

I don’t mind the little shrug jacket thingy – as long as its faux fur of course – and I event don’t mind the foots! Surprisingly, even though Ugg boots are synonymous with a last Australian lifestyle, ankle boots are cute, and they aren’t terrible from what I can see. My problem here really lies with the skirt. It looks flamenco? I cant see how it has anything to do with Australia whatsoever. Sheepskin and Ugg boots are very outback and rural Australia. The bathers are great – of course, Australia is an island, and its all coastal and all that :P

And the Indigenous design as well, hailing to our aboriginal heritage and recognising that part of our culture is great. But the skirt? Ok, so the colours and red and black and yellow, which are colours associated with the outback and sunset and the aboriginal flag....but the material? And the design itself?

 It’s a tiered Spanish flamenco dancing skirt?! I'm so confused. She looks great though, very attractive girl, the belt is a bit too rodeo for me, and we don’t really have a rodeo culture here but hey. And I know that the National Costumes are always very camp and OTT and all the rest and are also tongue in cheek but I really don’t think this has any relevance. What about out Australian flag? The southern cross. We have a mighty bogan culture, she should have a southern cross tattoo!! Haha, ok I'm getting carried away. Regardless -  Lose the skirt, girlfriend.
